Other AbstractUrban areas are hot spots that humanity drive environmental change at multiple scales, which includes from local to regional even global size. Material demands of production and human consumption in urbanized regions altered land use and cover, biodiversity, and hydrosystems locally to regionally, and urban waste discharge affects local to global biogeochemical cycles and climate. Simultaneously, all these changes derived in human urbanization have induced global environmental change and resulted in threat to human surviving. Presently, it is urgent that deeply exploring the relationship between urbanization and environmental change and the responses of urban cosystem to climate change from locally to regionally, especially the typical and super-huge urban ecosystem in arid areas. Here, we used ecological process model, HPM-UEM(Hierarchical Patch Mosaic-Urban Ecosystem Model), to quantify the effection of future(21st century) environmental change (mainly including atmospheric carbon dioxide and climate chage) on urban ecosystem based on the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, AZ USA.
